Serendipity Finishing Directions

Hi All!  Thick in the midst of Christmas and family birthday festivities, I finally came up for air so I could get the promised patterns out.  There are two here to download.  The little appliques that go in the quarter square triangles of the flying geese units and the Border/Finishing directions.  I hope you all…

Serendipity Block 3

Ack! I’m a day late and dollar short, but finally able to post Serendipity – Corner Block 3. Off to bed for now.

Longmeadow – Block 3

Here is Block 3 all ready to download. We had a lovely holiday weekend here with gorgeous weather and beautiful sunsets highlighting the days.  My family is growing up and out, so there were only five of us to celebrate Thanksgiving together.  We had no extended family this year, and my two oldest daughters live…

Longmeadow Block 2

Hi everyone, Block 2 is up and ready to download. I learned the meaning of despair last week when I grabbed a permanent marker instead of my Frixion pen to draw placement lines on the background.  It all worked out in the end, fortunately, but the frustrated groan brought my husband to me from…

A Beautiful Quilt

Elizabeth Palmer Austin sent in this photo of the gorgeous quilt she made using the Sycamore Rose blocks.  Her interpretation is stunning! The work is exquisite and I can (and do – lol!) look at it all day.  Thank you so much Elizabeth for sending it in for everyone to enjoy! I’ve been busy working…

Lancaster Co., Block 2

Lancaster Co. block 2 is up and ready for download. We have been enjoying getting to know our new granddaughter, Kimmi.  She is a doll! Absolutely perfect, and with four baby-hungry Aunts to attend to her, she is loved a ton.  We just can’t get enough of her.  Unfortunately, we just found out that she…

Lancaster Co., Block 1

Lancaster Co., block 1  is available for download.  The block measures 14.5″ finished.  I generally cut the background blocks about 16.5″ square to account for any shrinkage during stitching, then trim down to the cut size of 15″ after the applique is done.  I’m going scrappy with the backgrounds using Kim Diehl’s Butter Churn…

Sycamore Rose Finishing Instructions

We spent a wonderful Thanksgiving with our family. Most notably our daughter and her husband who are due with our first grandchild any time now.  There have already been a few false starts but no baby yet.  Soon, though, we will have her to hold and kiss and cuddle.  I’m so excited to be…

Sycamore Rose – Block 11

This is probably my favorite block!  It just makes my heart sing.  I’m still working on putting the block together, but here is the pattern for Sycamore Rose – Block 11.  Have fun with it!

Sycamore Rose – Block 8

It’s the first of the month and I already feel I’m lagging behind.  Sorry for being so late in getting this up.  Here’s Sycamore Rose – Block 8 ready for download. Hope you enjoy!  Block 9 will be posted on or around the 15th of the month.  So check back then. Christy

Sycamore Rose – Block 4

Here is Sycamore Rose – Block 4, ready for download. It’s a really sweet block with simple shapes to applique. I had a blast doing this one. I hope you will be gracious enough to forgive the poor photography. I didn’t want to bother MSH who was busy with his own project. But I…

Sycamore Rose – Block 1

As promised, here is the pattern for  Sycamore Rose – Block 1.   All patterns finish at 14″.  So I cut the background squares at 16″ and will trim it down to 14-1/2″ after the applique is done. For this block, you will need approximate scraps as follows if you’re making it in the Pink/Brown colorway….
